HBA CHARITABLE FOUNDATION BREAKS GROUND FOR DREAM HOME

Horsham, PA – The American Dream was coined in 1931 in response to conditions at the time. In short, The American Dream was comprised of social justice, the ability to participate in consumer economy and the hope of a better place for one’s children.

The Charitable Foundation of the Home Builders Association of Bucks & Montgomery Counties (HBA) embraces those same tenets. Its mission is to provide those in need with better lives, better housing, better environments. Last year, the Charitable Foundation reached out to many individuals and organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Peace Valley Nature Center and the American Red Cross.

With a goal to increase its support and extend its philanthropic reach, HBA launched The Dream Home, which will be complete in late spring 2008. Like the American Dream of 1931, The Dream Home of 2008 offers opportunities to participate in a worthy social project and offer hope for families through the funds raised. The premise of The Dream Home is to build a beautiful residence, complete with many Green features, and sell it at market value. All proceeds after deductions for necessary costs will go to the Charitable Foundation.

“We are fortunate to have a beautiful golf club community setting for the Dream Home,” reports Bob Delany, co-chair of the Charitable Foundation. “Mignatti Companies has sold the foundation a home site at Golf Club Estates at Heritage Creek in Warwick Township. The builder will also coordinate construction. We are very grateful to Mignatti for its support,” exclaims Delany.

Ground was broken on a 10,000-square-foot lot on August 3 for the Dream Home and construction is underway on the 5,600-square-foot Baltusrol model. When complete, the home will include four bedrooms and three-and-one-half baths. A Country French façade will be finished in stone and stucco.

“As fourth generation builders, Mignatti is dedicated to giving back,” says Julia Mignatti, General Sales Manager. The HBA Dream Home gives us a platform to participate in a valuable program and to help create a product that exemplifies exceptional quality and construction innovation. We are proud to be part of it,” concludes Mignatti.

With the homesite secured, HBA is zealously seeking additional support from members, suppliers and the trades. “We are optimistic that the building industry will go all out to make The Dream Home an overwhelming success,” remarks Delany. “We are asking for donations and discounts for supplies and financial contributions to help allay costs.

“There will be abundant promotion for all involved,” continues Delany. “We plan three months of open houses, events and special tours. All participants will be headlined in numerous ways depending on the monetary value of their contributions. It is a wonderful opportunity to stand out and reach thousands of people who visit The Dream Home and to create awareness among others who read about it in advertising and publicity.”
